BNY Mellon – Designing a Unified Wealth View for BNY Mellon Clients Across Institutions

As part of BNY Mellon’s digital transformation, I led UX design for a key initiative: enabling high-net-worth clients to view all their financial accounts—including assets held at external institutions—within a single portal. Through iterative design, rapid delivery cycles, and deep stakeholder collaboration, we developed a scalable aggregation experience that integrates cleanly with the core portal while allowing for phased feature expansion.

Before (Challenge) → After (Solution)

No way to view external assets within the BNYM portal. → Designed integrated aggregation flows to view total wealth across institutions.

Siloed teams and priorities slowed feature expansion. Created a modular experience architecture for faster iteration and long-term scaling.

Design handoff lagged behind dev sprint cycles. → Adopted tight two-week sprint cadences with bi-weekly dev-ready handoffs.

How We Got There

  • Led UX design for wealth aggregation and supported broader portal efforts: global navigation, group/account search, document delivery.

  • Worked in lockstep with BNYM and frog teams via daily standups, weekly feedback sessions, and bi-weekly design handoffs.

  • Used Figma to create mid- and high-fidelity flows and design specs aligned with BNY Mellon’s design system.

  • Ensured stakeholder alignment through co-creation workshops and ongoing critiques with both business and technical leads.

  • Prioritized extensibility—designing components that can evolve with phased roadmap features post-launch.

Selected Examples

Holistic Wealth View Dashboard: Unified display of total assets across internal and external holdings.

Account Aggregation Flow: Seamless onboarding of external institutions and assets.

Modular UI Components: Designed for reuse and phased roadmap rollout.
